Happy Halloween! Here's a creepy crawly photo to help get you in the mood.
Apparently this spider has been infiltrating our neighborhood. (shudder) I suggested to Sergio that a video might be cool. Looks like the spider took a shine to the camera and started swooping in for a close-up. Scared Sergio clear out of his shoes! (Final shot of video.)

Halloween 2011
In case it isn't obvious, I was Frida Kahlo. Sergio was a '70s "arthouse" filmmaker. His shirt/vest from last year and carefully selected pieces from my jewelery box. It was a lot of fun putting the looks together.

Betsy's Baby Shower part deux
We're all expecting Betsy's baby to arrive any moment now. In honor of that, here's a look back at her beautiful baby shower, two months ago. Her photographer friends, Maggie and Amy, posted some gorgeous photos on their blogs. Click on the photo to go to their respective sites.

Vegetable Box (finally)
Sergio's weekend project.
The last time you saw the box (back in May), it looked like this:
We picked up another set of wood and Sergio rearranged it into the new design. Pretty slick, I think.
The strings are meant to keep the stray kitties from, um, getting comfy in the fresh dirt.
Sure, it's way past the major growing season. But I did optimistically put in a few plants and herbs that I hope will be able to eke out a short while based on our intermittent 80+ degree weather. I sprinkled in winter vegetable seeds though. I'm hoping those take! yay!

Art binge
Been on a bit of an art acquisition kick around these parts. The house is positively bursting at the wall seams with the stuff.
Which, has inspired me to hatch a plan to properly showcase each of our beloved pieces on this ol' bloggity. Looks like I've got some work cut out for me.

Ocean magic
On this pretty evening, we drove out to Torrey Pines State Beach, on the hunt for some special waves.
Bioluminescence.
The storm must have dispersed and diluted the little Lingulodinium polyedrum. Check out how strong the glow is in this surfer video by Loghan Call, filmed the week before! (There's a 15 second commercial before the video. But hang tight because it's worth the wait!)

Sergio's Birthday - San Diego - photo diary
Not pictured is the first day. But basically we ate and drank. :) It was pouring rain on the drive down but it did let up in time for happy hour. Sergio and I polished off an entire bottle of Super Tuscan Blend (Querciabella Mongrana Maremma Toscana, Italy, 2008) at Enoteca Style in Little Italy. It happened to be Half Off Wine Bottle Wednesday! We chatted with our lovely server, Regina (with a hard "g") who we found out is from Estonia. After our paninis, she pointed us in the direction of Extraordinary Desserts. After a long stroll in the damp, we headed back to the hotel to relax before a very late dinner where Sergio had a delicious diver scallop dish.
One of the major highlights was visiting Cabrillo National Monument Park in Point Loma. It is so beautiful there.
I'll post Sergio's favorite part of the trip, our moonlit jaunt to the beach, next time. But you can sneak a peak by heading straight to the photoset on flickr.
