Relaxation was the goal and I think we were successful. It helped to stay at the fancy pants Estancia Hotel and Spa. We went on a gorgeous hike down to Black's Beach, had massages and generally just hung out.

We won't be doing any major traveling any time soon, but I really want to try squeezing in these little getaways before baby arrives. Luckily California is one amazing state with endless undiscovered places. Half of me wants to avoid the lure of old favorites and the other half wants to slip them on like an old, cozy cardigan. We'll see.

Aw! I've been down that Black's Beach hike so many times (I went to college at UCSD)! So beautiful. Happy birthday, Sergio!
ReplyDeletehey Ann! UCSD is located in the most amazing location. The hike down was a little scary for me as I'm not in shape and generally have bad balance. the hike up was easier in terms of my confidence but boy was it steep! my heartrate shot up like crazy!
Deletei saw your instagram (or tweet?) of the estancia and got so nostalgic! my husband and i spent the night of our wedding there. it was our 12 hour honeymoon as i put it, because we didn't end up taking a full honeymoon until 2.5 years later. the room and grounds were gorgeous - i just wish we had more time!! your pictures are great. what a wonderful b-day getaway!
ReplyDeleteit's a beautiful hotel for sure. the spa is lovely too! the separate men/women spa hot tubs are situated in pretty little outdoor (walled) patios.
