Necklace uniform

I'm still wearing it. And now I've added one of my trusty favorites because I couldn't choose. So I didn't.

Dream Collective

So you all know of my obsession with Clare Vivier's bags, right? Well, she partnered with Kathryn Bentley and opened up shop in Silver Lake!

If you remember, Kathryn was one of Jeana's early Closet Visit subjects. Of course, it was a lovely opening party with flowing champagne and conversation. How could I resist picking out a new bauble in such a festive atmosphere?

I chose the Crystal Mountain/Mala Beads Necklace from Kathryn Bentley's Dream Collective, her more accessible, but no less wonderful line earthy jewelry.
necklaces: Dream Collective + vintage beads

I wore it every day for a week and half. Here, I paired it with colorful vintage African beads I picked up at a sidewalk sale. I was told that the beads are Italian made but used in the African trade.

Other Dream Collective favorites.

um. Can I say: new obsession?

Psst! Click here to check out this photo from Racked LA. You can see me behind Kathryn, consulting Sergio on which piece to buy.

Gretchen Jones FW2011

Loving everything about this outfit. Especially the necklace. Girlfriend just needs a bellini in her hand and it would be perfection.

Actually, every piece of jewelery in this collection is amazing.

Thrifty Thursday 1.6.11

You know, it's rather dangerous to have a good vintage store in walking distance.

I actually saw this a month ago but decided to purchase another piece instead -- one that was made by Mim and reminds me of sea anemone. I'll have to remember to post that one some time too. Anyway, at the time, Mim put it aside for me. So I waited until I felt enough time had passed to qualify as a respectable waiting period before buying yet another necklace. Seriously. It's a bit out of control.

I feel like Cleopatra when I wear it.

Thrifty Thursday! 12.9.2010

Vintage necklace. From my favorite no-frills, super affordable vintage store. It's become a favorite piece. Worn it 3 out of 5 days now. love!

Sorry for the photo quality and lighting. These are cell phone pics. I was too damned lazy to go find my camera and then have to upload onto the laptop that was way at the other end of the house... I'm a sloth, remember?

Groovy Wooden Necklace

New vintage necklace from my favorite vintage store that's across from my favorite thrift store. :)

I'm thinking of lengthening it with a bit of dark grey ribbon.

Feeling Golden

It was a gold kind of weekend. Woke up ridiculously early on Saturday morning and caught a bit of the sunrise from our front yard. It was very pretty and the birds were just chirping hello to the morning light.

Please use the Italian Cypress as a reference point of where the image overlaps. I did a quick search for image stitching software but got lazy. Y'all will just have to fire up the ol' imagination synapses.

Bringing the BLING:

Earrings are from a yard sale a few weekends ago; Rings from another yard sale just last weekend. The sweet little swallow charm is from Sergio! He purchased it from a jewelry shop in town when we were last in Sutri. It dangles from two different chains I connected to make one long one, both gifted to me by my mom from years past. I was extremely tempted to tap into my inner Mr. T by wearing both rings at once. But I ain't tough enough.

Check out this nugget of shortbus awesomeness:

I wanted to put it into my pocket and take it home for Micio to drive. If only she weren't such a spaz.

Here she is bathing in sunlight, sitting dignified as Dr. Jekyll one second and then twisting like crazy Ms. Hyde
quite literally, the next. Why are you so spazzy Micio? Spaz.

We are lucky to call the owner of this golden voice our neighbor and frequent visitor:

I did manage to stitch 3 videos here -- all recorded while Sergio was working on the credenza I had mentioned in my recent Living Room post. I'm saving those pics for my next post.

We ended the weekend with Avatar. Don't my moms and I look hott in our golden 3D glasses?

Delivery Post from Israel!

My Galit Barak earrings arrived today! But my camera battery died so no pics yet. Sorry. Trust me, they're beautiful!! And, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the gold mesh creates a little nest for the stone, covering the inside. I originally thought the mesh merely encircled the edge and it worried me that the stone might pop out.

Also, NELA artwalk this Saturday. Big plans to visit the York, peruse all the galleries in walking distance and chow down at a taco truck (or two).
